Information for Seminar Speakers at City University London - Economics
The department of Economics is in the Islington campus, close to the Angel tube station.
Most offices and the seminar room are in the Social Sciences Building (nowadays called "Rhind Building"). Upon your arrival, head for office D332 in the third floor (go through the main door, you might have to register with security, just say you are visiting the Econ department). Kim Edmunds (Kim.Edmunds.1 AT city.ac.uk) will be in the office to guide you further.
Travel tips
For a very efficient travel planner, try the TfL website.Google maps is also good usually, except for some reason it sometimes suggests suboptimal trips from/to Heathrow. Click below for detailed information how to find us, depending on your starting point:
The fastest way from Heathrow is by taking the Heathrow Express, that brings you in 15-21 minutes (depending on the terminal of arrival) to Paddington Station. For instructions from Paddington, hit the link below.
You could also take a mini cab (not really advisable, unless you have really heavy luggage). The journey will take about 60 minutes, depending on traffic and will be about 35-40 pounds. Typically they will pick you up in front of departures, ask the operator for details.
Do NOT take a black cab. This will just be too expensive.
The fastest way from Gatwick is by taking the Gatwick Express, that brings you in about 30 minutes to Victoria Station. For instructions from Victoria, hit the link below.
From Paddington you have two options, either take the tube to Angel station or to Farringdon station. Angel is closer (about 8-10 mins on foot), but you need to fist go to King's Cross, taking the Hammersmith & City or the Circle line, and then change to the Northern Line to go to Angel. Farringdon is a bit further (about 12-14 mins away) but has a direct tube connection (again Hammersmith & City or Circle line, one stop after King's Cross).
The easiest way is to take the Victoria line to Euston Station, and switch to the Northern line for one stop to Angel station. It is then about 8-10 minutes on foot to the university.
